The Copyright, Explained

"You're an errand boy
sent by clerks
to collect a bill."

Colonel Kurtz (Marlon Brando), Apocalypse Now

The Web is a collection of voices and we are free to quote those expressing important, interesting, and attractive ideas in whatever form they take. Fair use is one thing, however, and using things fairly another. Placing someone's work in an undesirable context may adhere to the law yet fail as a social act. We need to try to make the world a better place.

So, I protect my work with trademarks and a copyright saying my information is free but people who take my ideas can't take credit for them, resell them, or use them if I ask them not to. Here is the mechanism: I would like you to ask for permission to use my content but if you otherwise use my ideas without crediting me or after I object, then you unconditionally grant me unrestricted use of whatever you produce with my ideas. Together we create a new concept that is ours jointly to share with others.
