Aesop's Fables
Morals, Links, Second Grade Student Work
Fables are popular with second grade readers, especially up-dated
versions of Aesop's
Fables.
In this lesson, students read and discussed Aesop's Fables and tried to
understand
the moral of the story.
All my students can read, but as some of these morals show,
"understanding what you
read" can be a more difficult undertaking. Actually, I thought this was a
difficult
lesson, and overall the students did very well. Note that most of the
second graders
had difficulty generalizing the lesson and took the message quite
literally.
