This bibliography was begun in an attempt to update the biography in Lebot's 1992 book Kava: The Pacific Drug. While I have concentrated on more recent books, I will include some older titles as well.
I recommend that those who are interested in looking for books about kava use their library catalog as follows:

Title searches: Generally, use term "kava". This will bring up books that contain the word kava in the title. The books may not actually be about kava - I have run across both foreign and non-kava related books that contain the word kava in their titles. Many herb books will not mention kava in their title - you might want to also look for recent herb books.

Subject searches: This may be a more precise search strategy. Library of Congress Subject Headings useful for kava information include: kava plant, kava ceremony, kava (beverage), and piperaceae.
