Hinchee's Genealogy Stuff

The Inspiration

My wife, Linda, and I caught the genealogy bug in the early 1990's. This led to vacations in 1994 to Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, in June 1995 to Ireland, in May 1996 to Arkansas, in September 1996 to Ohio and Kentucky, in May 1997 to Virginia, in 1999 to Utah and Oklahoma, in 2000 to Kentucky, in 2003 to Maryland, and in 2007 to Texas and Oklahoma. All of these holidays were tied to genealogy research. We are actively interested in the following surnames:

• Hinchee, Hinchy, Hinchey (anytime, anywhere) - see mailing list below
• Stalcup (Maryland/Virginia late 1700's, early 1800's)

• Blome (Illinois after 1850 and Hessen-Kassel prior)

• Illinois State Archives - old death certificates and other records are available here. Has a searcheable index of marriages to 1900 (incomplete).
• Illinois Historic Preservation Agency - the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library has old Illinois newspapers on microfilm, useful for finding obits. The Lincoln Library contains the holdings of the old Illinois State Historical Library
• ILGenWeb Project - general information and links to specific counties.
