Illinois Vest-a-Dog is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the lives of K-9 police dogs through the purchase and donation of bullet and stab resistant vests.
As K-9 police officers patrol the streets and encounter dangerous criminals, their four footed "Guardians of the Night" have one mission: to protect their partners, by whatever means necessary, to ensure that they both return home safely.
Illinois Vest-a-Dog is proud to announce the donation of it's 100th vest!
Joanne and Wayne Hochwarter presented Lee and Xavier Harrison with a check for the 100th vest on August 22, 2005. The Hochwarters donated a vest in July and the K-9 and handler came to their Block Party to do a K-9 demonstration. Some of the neighbors were so impressed, they chipped in with the Hochwarters and donated another vest, bringing the grand total up to 100 vests donated throughout the state of Illinois.
How you can help:
- Check out our new fundraiser: God's Listening...Prayers for Dog Owners
- Every penny counts! You can make a tax deductible donation. As soon as we reach the total needed for a vest, we order one for the next dog on the list. Then we start all over again for the next K-9.
- Be a donor! Buy the whole vest and select the dog of your choice from our list. Attend the vesting and have your picture taken with the K-9 and handler.
- We now accept donations via Paypal. Just click the logo to make a donation.
- Collect empty ink cartridges for us. We recycle them and get $2 for small ones and $8 for the large ones. Call us for more information.
- We can always use extra hands for some of our fund raisers. Just volunteer a few hours as needed.
- Put one of our donation containers in your store or business.
- Raise funds by having a 50/50 raffle at an upcoming golf tournament, dance, or outing this summer.
