week on the Potomic River. Backpacked for one week in Big Savage Mountain,

- Led three courses for ajudicated youth and youth-at-risk males (ages 13-17) on thirty day
canoeing/ backpacking trips. For each course, one week was spent backpacking in Southern
Illinois and three weeks paddling in the Quetico of Canada. Assisted students on ropes course
and ZIP line. Taught students rockclimbing and caving. Met with parents or probation officers
after course to decide placement for the student.

- Led youth-at-risk- students (co-ed, ages 9-17) on week long bicycling and backpacking trips
through areas in upstate New York. Head logistician which included arrangements of travel,
equipment, navigation, safety, and food.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
Winter camping & dogsledding
February, 2000, 1997 & 1996. Outward Bound Staff Invitational
dogsledding. Mushed dogs and
cross-country skied for one week in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota. On the 1996 trip the
warmest it temperature was -30 degrees, the coldest was -74 degrees. I never was warm, but I
had a great time!
Backpacking
Grand Canyon National Park. 7 day trip on the Arch Route trail.. We did this route backwards!!
(April 1994)
Overland Trek, Tasmania Australia. On this beautiful 6 day trip we encountered wombats,
wallabys, joeys, and snow! (Oct. 1993)
Big Bend National Park.
- 8 day trip on the Old Mine Trail & Telephone
Canyon Trail (Dec. 1996).
- 15 day trip starting at the Basin, down Juniper Canyon to Glenn
Spring to Solis Over the Cross Canyon Trail and back to Solis, up Elephant Tusk, to the corral
and back out through the Chisos (I like the mexican cows)(Jan. 1992)
- 6 day trip through
Mesa Verde and surrounding areas (watch out for those wild mules!!!) (Dec. 1994)
Banff and Jasper National Park, Canda. 14 days of bliss, except for the lightening storm that
began while walking on a trail that had become a river after it was washed out (July 1993)
Smoky Mountains, Tennessee.
- 10 day trip where the temperature dropped
from 65 degrees to 20 degrees we woke up with 6 inches of snow and 2 unreliable MSR whisper
lites (April 1991)
- 7 day trip without unusual events (May 1993).
Other places: Shenandoah National Forest, Virginia; Adirondacks, New York; Lake District and
Wales, UK; Baxter State Park, Maine.
