No, this isn't a website devoted to mutual funds or real estate--its target is something even more sinister...Profit, the TV show. Maybe you remember it...or maybe not. Profit, starring Adrian Pasdar, aired on the FOX network in April of 1996 and only April of '96. Apparently, the suits felt that the show's depiction of corporate climbers as cold-blooded sociopaths who sleep naked in cardboard boxes hit a little too close to home, and they yanked it after only four episodes. Four more episodes, however, *were* made and, so I'm told, aired in places like Australia and Great Britain, where they really do get to see all kinds of neat stuff, they just never know when.
I've gotten a surprisingly large number of e-mails about this show, almost entirely consisting of one question: where can I get episodes of Profit? Okay, I am now going to answer it here, once and for all, so you needn't e-mail me. It's not that I dislike you e-mailing me--it's just that it gets a tad dull answering the same question over and over, and why put either of us through the bother when I could just put the answer right here?
Where was I? Oh yes. "Where can I get episodes of Profit?" I cannot make copies of any of the episodes for you. To the best of my knowledge, they are not commercially available anywhere, although I haven't scoured the rumor mill in years so I may be behind the times. The best place to search for copies of the episodes, as well as any other info you might need, would be one of the two Adrian Pasdar mailing lists. There's one at Onelist (or is that Egroups now?), run by Sharon Hulton (SHulton@aol.com) and Sylly (SYLLY5@aol.com), and then there's a second one run by Chelebell (smno3@email.msn.com). Everyone at these lists is very helpful and friendly and probably have quite the little cottage industry supplying Profit fans with episodes. Disclaimer: I've not been in a Profit mood of late, so I haven't confirmed this info in recent times. Sorry about that--I hope to swing into a phase soon, and then I'll be more vigilant. But, anyway, there's no harm in trying these addresses, and please let me know if I've gotten something wrong.
