sides. Place layer of browned eggplant in prepared casserole. Add

____________________Ghost girl. The couple moves in. Woman older (and richer) than man. Not
getting along. Ghost's thought is random, prankish, a deteriorating
child's view that approximates evil.Woman loses earrings, man misplaces important number. Each blames the
other for these and subsequent happenings which are the child's doing.
The pranks become more personal, more harmful...She was crawling through a culvert when she got stuck; the rains came,
and she drowned in place, her legs drifting in floodwater for days.
Only when she decomposed did the water break her loose and wash her out
to the sea. She was an orphan before. Her grandparents died in a car
accident looking for her. The house passed onto the market. In a weird
mirroring the couple are her lost parents.<drawing of open culvert with water rushing in>

Later notes on HH: Having done scenes in Fenton Manor, the farm, the
pub, reconstruct now. Move 'history' from Wat's thoughts in pub over to
Rebecca's section (reduces sympathy for Wat, but this is livable; he
needs some, but not as much as he has been given). Employ this new
placement of history to Rebecca's advantage, making her more profound.
This also lengthens her section and contributes to overall balance.Alternation of two story lines is helped by a new portion, added
between Rebecca's encounter with hound and Wat's fight in the Pelican.
This is *Arthur's Dream*, engendered perhaps by reading a book about
the Hunt (opportunity to use book's text for myth history, and thereby
tone down Fenton's somewhat labored speech on it the following
morning). This can be a full-blown nightmare (the story could use one
at this point) and can incorporate the Hunt from a couple of
viewpoints, besides of course Arthur's own casting in the role of the
prey for its climax, when he awakens. There are 'fox-hounds' and there are 'harriers'. Hares are hunted more
quietly, so as not to excite the dogs overmuch-- use within a later
section?Laken drives a Daimler. Make sure it's seen in his introductory scene.
Redo dialogue in very first of story after Fenton and Arthur's
characters have had a chance to crystallize.
