Membership is open to anyone who lives within the geographic area represented by WUNA. Members have the option of adding their e-mail address to the listserv (WUNA e-mail list) to receive WUNA related messages. WUNA is a grassroots, volunteer organization. Its listserv, which is also maintained by volunteers for the neighborhood benefit, is an excellent forum for neighbors who wish to discuss items of interest. The West Urbana Neighborhood Association (WUNA) has been established to preserve the residential integrity of the neighborhood, while continuing to welcome a diverse mix of residents to its lovely, quiet, tree-lined streets. WUNA seeks to maintain and enhance the neighborhoods friendly, attractive, and safe environment that is in walking distance of downtown, campus and excellent schools.
WUNA encompasses the area bordered by Lincoln Avenue, Vine Street, Main Street, and Florida Avenue. The neighborhood, which is home to the State Street Tree Guide, symbolizes the urban forest that gained the City of Urbana the unique designation as Illinois first "Tree City USA."
WUNA is a grassroots organization, loosely structured by a Steering Committee and Coordinator. Decision-making within the Steering Committee, WUNA meetings at large, and within Action Groups will be in the spirit of consensus, while operating under a majority rule. WUNA works in collaboration with residents, property owners and city officials.

Members of the Steering Committee meet two times a year in early fall and winter, or as the need arises.
The Coordinator(s) are elected at the Spring at-large meeting for a term of one year. They preside over the steering committee meetings and chair the annual at-large meeting.
Each action group meets twice a year or as the need arises.
Smart Growth
Goal: Promote responsible property ownership and retention of current owner-occupied homes, and facilitate the re-conversion of homes zoned single family back to owner-occupied residences or responsible landlord ownership.
Livability
Goal: Maintain high quality of life in the neighbor-hood by working with residents, property owners, and city government to encourage standards of upkeep and behavior that are respectful of the neighborhood. The group promotes two neighborhood cleanups that coincide with the University of Illinois Dad's Day and Mom's Weekend.
Public Awareness
Goal: Promote positive relationships with all residents and property owners in the neighborhood, city staff, and the larger community. Research most effective means to promote livability and educate WUNA area residents.
Web Coordination
Goal: Develop WUNAs digital community.
