Who Qualifies?
The Prairienet Community Network is an outreach service of the Graduate
School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois
at Urbana-Champaign. Since we are a community network that is part of the University of Illinois,
our coverage is limited to Illinois (for state-wide organizations) and our geographic
scope for community-based organizations is limited to 17 counties in East Central Illinois.

Non-profits:
- Any non-profit agency, group, club or association which based in or
has an active chapter in East Central Illinois or which
serves the state of Illinois as a whole.
National and international non-profit organizations may apply provided their
headquarters are in Illinois.
As of December 1, 2006, Advanced Web Hosting accounts (which include domain name hosting) are limited to
organizations in East Central Illinois that are 1) registered as a 501(c)(3)s or 2) public sector.
- Under certain circumstances, we do provide Web hosting for community-based organizations
elsewhere in the state of Illinois.

Businesses:
- Any small business in East Central Illinois may
apply for a Standard or Advanced Web Hosting account. For-profit
organizations of any kind are not eligible for fee waivers. However,
because Prairienet is part of the University of Illinois, there are
limitations
on commercial use and we strongly
recommend that businesses find a commercial Web hosting service that will
let them take full advantage of the commercial potential of the Web.

Individuals:
- Individuals who do not represent an organization but who have
a special expertise or interest in a particular area (such as law, gardening,
personal finance, etc.) who wish to create and maintain a special interest or
hobby homepage.
- Additional requirements:
- Account managers -- account managers must be 18 or older
(exceptions are made for college students).
- Authorization -- governmental units, political campaigns, and state- or nation-wide non-profit
organizations must submit an authorization letter on official letterhead to:
