Outdoor Activities – Lorraine Logue Lorraine was not here. Brian Knox talked about the last trip to Garden of the Gods. On December 10 we are going to Turkey Run for the Great Beef Hike. This is being organized by Brad Purcell. The Klondike Derby will be in January. Brian Knox said that parents who drive for outdoor activities should be able to turn in gas receipts. Mark Brandyberry agreed. We voted that parents can turn in gas receipts for an outdoor activity just as they turn in food receipts for an outdoor activity. The cost will be divided among the boys that attend the activity. Mark suggested that the troop have an annual budget. He has asked Sheila to put it together. Mary thought there was a budget template that we could use. We discussed whether multiple people should sign checks. We decided that it would be good to have more that one person with check-writing ability. Advancement – Mary Manard The next court of honor is scheduled for December 15. Mary suggested having it at the Beef House after the Great Beef Hike. At this point in time only 3 boys have earned merit badges, so she wondered if we need a full Court of Honor. We decided to move the court or honor to January 19 in order to give more boys time to advance. Fundraising – Elisabeth Jenicek Jim Marshall is beginning to organize the chili supper for February. Sheila passed around a greenery form so people would purchase the remaining greenery. She said the greenery will gross over $2400. Quartermaster – Jeff Fryer The 4 new tents worked well at the last campout. Service Projects – John Taylor John was not here. There is a service opportunity tomorrow night assisting Phil Brandyberry with his eagle project. This counts as service hours since it benefits the community and not the troop. Adult Training – Bill Dick Prairielands Training College will be February 11. This will be an all-day event at the Vet Med building on the U of I campus. He had some flyers for the Wood Badge which will be September 29 - October 1 and October 20 - 22. Merit badge counselors must be registered with the council. This must be done annually. The boys have had nominations for SPL. December 1 is election day. Candidates are Michael Clewley, Robbie Shannon, Alex Manard, Adam Joseph, and Paul Brandyberry. In his Scoutmaster minute Bill talked about the discussion on leadership that had taken place at the PLC. Old Business Bring your aluminum cans the night of parent meetings. New Business Scott Sullivan briefly discussed the Colorado trip. It will cost around $800 and take place in June or July. We will take the train to Roosevelt National Park. The trip will be around 10 days long. The boys will have to carry all their own gear. Scott said he will start planning the trip over the next few months. Mary Manard gave a Troopmaster update. She wants each boy to pay $35 dues. There will not be a separate breakdown for Boys Life. We voted to accept this. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30PM. The next meeting will be on December 15 at 7:10PM. There will be a desert party following the meeting. Respectfully submitted, Ann Reid Committee Secretary
