The agenda was distributed and approved. Minutes from the Sept 1 meeting were distributed and approved. Committee Reports Treasurer – Rebecca Dressler Rebecca has opened a new checking account. The troop account balance is now $3056.40. The scout account balance is negative. Some scouts have high unpaid balances, and Rebecca said she will have to contact them. Outdoor Activities – Lorraine Logue Lorraine still needs someone to take over this position. A trip to Wisconsin was planned for next weekend. Scott Sullivan was supposed to have planned this trip, but no one is sure if he has done so. This would have been a good weekend to take a 3-day trip since Unit 4 has a 4 day weekend. However, there is not much time left to plan the trip. A Colorado trip is on the calendar for this summer. We should make reservations and purchase train tickets. Scott Sullivan is in charge of planning this trip. Brian Knox is planning the November trip on November 4-6. We are planning to go to Southern Illinois. The Court of Honor is tonight. It will be a new type of ceremony. Advancement – Mary Manard Mary sent out advancement paperwork for each scout in the mail. Parents and scouts should look over the paperwork. Fundraising – Elisabeth Jenicek Elisabeth handed out a fundraising spreadsheet. Mary Manard has order forms for popcorn. Please pick up popcorn at her house. It would be a good idea to sell popcorn at the pancake breakfast. Mary will bring 5 cases of each. The money will go to the troop. Jim Marshall is organizing the pancake breakfast. He asked for volunteers. All boys and adults must wear hats. The wildest hat wins a prize. Jim had Mary send out 125 cards to area Webelos to invite them to the pancake breakfast. There will be some recruitment activities. Mark Joseph talked about the hot dog sale. Please volunteer for the next one. Jerry’s IGA was very helpful. At the next sale, the boys should not skateboard in the parking lot. They should also wear uniforms. The next sale will start at 1:00PM since the game starts at 6:00PM. We don’t want the boys to be out after dark. Phil Kriein passed out greenery forms. Sheila Krien is organizing the sale. Elisabeth Jenick passed out information about a possible ski trip with a girl scout troop. The information is for February 10-11; however, that is the weekend of Scout Sunday. Quartermaster – Jeff Fryer Jeff had nothing to report. Service Projects – John Taylor John was not here. Mark Joseph reminded us of a service project on October 23. The boys can serve food at a Special Olympics event. Adult Training – Bill Dick This past weekend was Prairielands One Stop Training. Bill hopes more assistant scoutmasters will participate in this training next year. John Williams, the district executive for Prairielands Council has asked us to host the Fall Camporee next year. We would have to find a location and plan a theme. We could have participants earn one of the more complex merit badges, and have different stations that boys could cycle through to earn parts of the badge. We could also do this in the spring of 2007. Troops would all do their own cooking. The Scoutmaster’s Minute will be at the court of honor. Old Business Bring your aluminum cans the night of parent meetings. New Business Popcorn and greenery sales, the pancake breakfast, and hot dog sales were already discussed. The meeting was adjourned at 7:25. The next meeting will be on October 27 at 7:10PM. Respectfully submitted, Ann Reid Committee Secretary
