Troop 107 Committee Meeting Minutes May 26, 2005 Present: Mark Brandyberry, Carolyn Finney, Dan Finney, Jeff Fryer, Mark Joseph, Sheila Krein, James Marshall, DD McInerney, Ann Reid, and John Taylor The meeting was called to order at 7:10 by Mark Brandyberry. The agenda was distributed and approved. Minutes from the April 28 meeting were distributed and approved. Committee Reports Treasurer – Rebecca Dressler Rebecca was not here. She gave Carolyn Finney the boys account statements. There is $3700 in the treasury. Rebecca needs receipts from the boys for the Spring Camporee. She needs tee shirt order forms from the boys tonight. Outdoor Activities – Lorraine Logue Lorraine was not here. She has made an activity calendar for summer, which Michael Logue passed out. Jim Marshall suggested a canoe trip. The annual potluck is scheduled for June 9. Lorraine had suggested to Mark that Hessel Park would be a good location for the potluck since the church lawn is all ripped up. After some discussion, we decided to have it at Hessel Park, with the church as a backup in case of rain. DD will call the park district to reserve a shelter. The potluck will start at 6:30. Camp Drake is June 19-25. The boys need to be there in swimsuits at 1:00 PM. They need to be picked up at 9:00 AM on the 25th. They should bring a copy of their physical exam. A 2005-2006 calendar was passed out. This calendar was a result of the planning meeting. Advancement – Mary Manard Mary was not here. The next court of honor is in two weeks. Fundraising – Elisabeth Jenicek Elisabeth was not here. She had given information to Mark. She had Rebecca pull up data on what the troop had earned at previous fundraisers. Since we are planning to go to Colorado in July 2006, it would be a good idea to have a Colorado targeted fund. Dan Finney mentioned that we had a previous pancake breakfast at the Masonic Temple on Windsor. The boys acted as wait staff at one of their fish fries as compensation. We might want to investigate this location again if the church construction is a problem. Elisabeth indicated to Mark that we could sell hot dogs at IGA and suggested the dates September 24, October 22, October 29, and November 19. We chose September 24, with October 22 as backup. Mark suggested that this fundraiser be targeted for the Colorado trip. Elisabeth is also looking into staffing a booth at Assembly Hall. Jim suggested a chili supper in February. Jeff Fryer volunteered to do popcorn, and Sheila Krein volunteered to do greenery. Karen Miller supplied the garage for greenery last time. Quartermaster – Jeff Fryer The hand ax is broken. We need a hatchet as well. The trailer lights need to be replaced. We decided to let Jeff take care of these 3 items. In addition we voted to let him spend up to $300 on shelves or other storage for the trailer. PVC pipes for the flags are included. Service Projects – John Taylor John is looking into 4th of July Parade set up and cleanup. Last year set up was at 8:30 on the 3rd. October 1 is the Salt Fork River cleanup. Adult Training – Bill Dick There is no adult training until the fall. However, there is some adult training at Camp Drake. Adults can find out what is available on the first day. Scoutmaster Comments – Bill Dick The results of the election are as follows: Cory Dressler – Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) Matt Ford – Assistant Senior Patrol Leader (ASPL) Joey Wyatt – ASPL Michael Clewley – ASPL In addition, two new Junior Assistant Scoutmasters are Michael Logue and Corey Kendall-Dick. The Junior Assistant Scoutmaster is a position for 16-18 year olds who have been SPLs. Old Business None New Business Ann Reid brought up the fact that Pack 147 has no second-year Webelos this year. The committee agreed that the troop needs to do some recruitment. Bill Dick suggested a one-night campout before the Salt River cleanup. This could be done with some Webelos. There would have to be a focused effort to get them to attend. The meeting was adjourned at 8:35. The next meeting will be Sept 1 at 6:30 PM. Respectfully submitted, Ann Reid Committee Secretary
