Welcome to the Archive!

This is the public depository for many of the pictures, documents, and obituaries I have collected that related to my family tree. In an effort to make it easier for me to maintain this page, this page has minimal HTML coding. While you may find this page is not as 'pretty' as it could be, it's much easier for me to keep up-to-date this way.
For reasons of personal privacy, there are no files on living individuals at this site.

Things are a bit disorganized here, as they are in my real archive. The advantages of the digital world are no dust, and it dosen't take up closet space. If you get lost, or can't find something in here, just holler for help.

  • I have generally filed women under their maiden surname, although in some cases I have placed a copy of their files with their husband's family as well. Some individuals may also be filed with their next of kin if there is only one file for them (case in point: Mary Porter is with Rogers). If there are two people with the same name, I have put the year of birth after the name.

    To view a file:

Pictures and obituaries are in seperate folders. 'Obits' is really more of a catch all file for any official document of newspaper publication. You may also find birth certificates, interviews, or hand written records in the obits file.
Simply click on either "pictures" or "obits" to open the folder. In some cases, there may be text files under the pictures and obits folders. To open or view a file, just click on its name. In some cases, a folder may be empty. If you do not see a file name and an icon that looks like a piece of paper after opening a folder, there is nothing in that folder. Some of these files are large and may take a while to load. If there is an expressed need for compressed files, I may include tham later.

    To Save a File:

    In Netscape or Internet Explorer:
With the file open, that is you are looking at the picture or obit on the screen, choose "save as" from the file menu. Choose a location on your computer to save the file to, and push the "save" button.
Picture files and obituaries are saved as JPEG (.jpg) files. This type of file will open in your Internet browser and most graphics and drawing programs. Text files (.txt) can be opened in any word processor.

To have a file placed in the archive:

Any files about individuals in my tree will be considered. Please save the file a a JPEG or text file and send to xx950@prairienet.org, or send a photo copy to Stacey Knight, 316 Bridgett, Westville, IL 61883.

    Can't find someone?

It's possible I have not scanned the file yet. Please e-mail me, and if I have anything I will put it on the page asap.
