Project Plan: Resource Analysis

What resources are already available from the organization to be applied to this project?  What resources will be purchased and by whom?  What resources are available from the LIS451 donations?

Reverend Freeman has a number of great partnerships with churches and other groups that are helping to contribute resources to the project. From March 12-16, groups are painting and cleaning up the rooms. These various partnerships and the congregation will help to provide donations and monetary support to be applied to the project.

Resources available from the LIS451 donations include:

  • 10 computers
  • Monitors
  • Keyboards
  • Mice
  • 10 movable computer desks constructed by Martin and LIS451 students (LIS451 will construct and paint, and Trinity UMC will cover the cost of the desks)

Other physical resources needed or desired to complete the project:

  • Headsets with microphones
  • Cable locks for headsets
  • Power cords
  • Second wireless access point (necessary if we put computers in the smaller room)
  • 10 wireless cards
  • Scanner
  • Printer
  • Desk chairs
  • Large (55″) LCD TV
  • Aesthetic and design contributions such as artwork, beanbag chairs, etc.

The final decision regarding software needs is to be decided. Trinity UMC is willing to consider Windows or Linux operating systems, and we will work together to determine which OS will work best for their needs when we visit again on April 9. We will also determine whether to use commercial or open source for other software needs.

This list includes possible commercial software needs. Since Trinity is a 501(c)(3), the cost of this software might be considerably lower if purchased on TechSoup – a non-profit organization that provides other non-profits with various technology needs:

  • Windows OS
  • Microsoft Office (Open Office might be an option)
  • Video editing software such as Windows MovieMaker (comes with Windows 7) or Pinnacle Studio HD
  • Photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements

Update at Project Conclusion:

The rooms were painted and there are plans to update the electrical configuration of the rooms.

Please see Project Outcomes for final list of hardware and software.
