Talk about what an OS is.

Give them the discs and let them install the rest.

No PPT necessary.  Hands on.

Pique there interests – games.  Create a handout explaining how to load apps.

Show us a game Windows.  Now let me show you  how to find it in Linux.

Required Equipment and Preparation – Teen Tech
#Windows XP Disks
Adam will make Windows XP disks for Thursday. Martin has an install CD with acrobat, Firefox, the Bible, and Open Office.

  1. Trip Arrangements
We will meet at GSLIS on Saturday, July 18th at 7:00am at the back parking lot. No lunches will be provided because will not be staying overnight. It will take us 3 hours to get to East St. Louis. We will finish by 4:00pm and pick up dinner on our way back.
  2. Equipment
Gather monitors, keyboards, mice, power cables and other required materials on Thursday.
  3. Extra Computer
We can possibly bring an extra computer and install Linux to show them how it works.

Cataloging Computer – Peer Ambassadors
We have decided to use Alexandria in the Manual Mode.

Further Questions and Concerns
We were unsure how many computers would have XP or Linux. After a conversation with Martin we decided to put XP on all of the computers. Prof. Wolske explained that if we did the suggested 7XP/3 Linux arrangement the community members would use the 7 XP computers. The only way to switch them to Linux would to make all of the Linux. In addition, it thought that it would be best to listen to Mike about his Linux since he knew the community better.

Possible Future Purchases
Since we wont be stay overnight or purchase lunches, we will have extra funds at the end of the class to spend on other things such as posters and flyers. We need to talk to people in the main office about our group’s current project.
