Plan of Execution

With the help of Martin and Don we have determined that tower cases are most appropriate for the purposes of the lab and layout of the room. Flat screen monitors (as designated in the grant) will be purchased. These computers will most likely have Microsoft Vista, which may be difficult since Martin and our team are not familiar with this operating system. Don has used Vista, though, and feels confident in this system. A hub with at least eight available spaces will be purchased for networking.

The Steps the Organization Needs to Accomplish Prior to Computer Delivery

Don seemed open to our ideas about the placement of computers. He would like most of the room to still be usable for hardware instruction we need to make sure our plan is feasible. Don will need to purchase any extension cords and power strips necessary for the project.

The Steps the Project Team Needs to Accomplish Prior to Computer Delivery

Step 1: Determine computers that fit all specifications and purchase them. (We will need to rely heavily on our measurements since space is in issue in the room.) Hopefully, they will arrive directly after spring break.

Step 2: Become familiar with Vista and determine what software we will need to add. Research this software and also remember to research business software.

Step 3: Put additional software on computers.

Step 4: Build all cables for the lab.

Step 4: Network computers.

Step 5: Network printer.

Step 6: Any additional time can be spent aggregating other resources for posters and tutorials.

Potential Risks That Might Hinder Fully Accomplishing the Plan

Time may play a factor since we have not ordered the computers yet and we do not know when they will arrive. Also, our ability to learn Vista quickly and efficiently will play into our success. Also, being careful to select computers that fit into the available space will be important.
