CentOS + ArcGIS Project Overview

• Set up a test server.

    • CentOS 5.3 Minimum system requirements
    • Ram 1 GB [2 memory modules]
    • 2, 40 GB Hard drives (for disc mirroring)
    • 1 DVD ROM

    • ArcGIS Server 9.3
      • Copy disc contents to hard drive and install from hard drive.
      • Install Software Groups:
        • Development Tools package group
        • Legacy Software Development package group
        • Legacy Software Support package group with compat-openldap from Optional Packages
        • X Window System package group
      • Install Dependency software:
        • compat-libf2c-34
        • compat-libstdc++-33
        • compat-libstdc++-296
        • libXp
        • mesa-libGL
        • mesa-libGLU
        • openldap
        • openssl
    • Postgres
      • PgAdmin – Postgres GUI
    • The final problem we ran into was logging into the web interface by typing into the web browser localhost:8099 there is a prompt for username and password where admin/admin should work.  We succeeded on our first install but the next day the server crashed.
