Project Summary

We are providing RUM  with six computers running the Linux Mint v.5 operating system.  These computers will be part of wireless network, and will be used by staff and residents for after-school tutoring, job searching, employment applications, resume creation and information searching.  The computers will be unsupervised, so there needs to be some level of security such that users cannot cause computer breakdowns and so that children in particular cannot access questionable websites.  There is a chance that the computers will be moved around, thus the need for a wireless network.  Ideally, these computers will provide staff and residents with the ability to do word processing, create spreadsheets and database programs, as well as provide Internet access and games for children.

As part of the class assignment students gave a presentation and here are the slides from it restorationurbanministries
