Problems and Solutions
Communication Problems- us to Monticello to accessibility group to grant purchase. Already there have been mis-communication between what the sites were hoping for, what we were intending to do, what resources we have to work with, and how the accessibility group in interacting with our project. We think we have clarified issues within the class end of things but need to email the site and make sure they are okay with what we would like to do.
update 3/20/10 email to Clare from Ish that the site is okay with preliminary plan, will follow up once the updated plan from wiki is sent
Katie had some difficulty getting a hold of Julie to let her know we were coming to the site.
Maple Point Computer- There may be misunderstanding between our group and the site. We are able to provide them 2 computers (one accessible computer to go into the nursing home and one new computer). We would like to place our second computer in the living room of Maple Point. This would require: their permission & a table. There is a table in the room but we do not know if we are allowed to use it or if it will work as a computer table. Another option may be to use the desk that is currently in the activity room.
update 3/19/10 email to Clare from Ish that the site is okay with the second living room site
4/14/10 webcam may not work with Windows 7
update: had it plugged into the wrong computer! all set.
Hooking the TV up to the computer: initially unclear if we could do it, Ish went back to see what the deal was with the TV, Ish went and got a longer VGA cable, still too short, made it work, told them they should still get a little piece to extend the cord just a touch further
Accessibility- Accessibility team had a hiccup getting their software and is not ready to take the nursing home computer. Will likely have to install the nursing home computer on the second day of installation. Will likely bring accessibility table on the first day of installation.
installed table on the first installation day, had the rest of the equipment and most of the software ready on the second installation day. didn’t know the software that was installed quite as well as we could. Should have sat down with the accessibility group to learn a little more
accessiblity table initially looked like it was too short to be wheelchair accessible
Faith in Action-
software problems: we don’t make custom software! Difficulty getting careworks software to work on all three user accounts
