Organization’s Priorities for Implementation of Technology
- The acquisition of 10 computer stations and one printer for The Learning Center
- Configuration of computer workstations with open access operating systems and software
- Establishing Internet access in the Learning Center
- Providing software that will help achieve the goals presented above
Mission/goals:
- To assist and teach users how to attain skills needed for job seeking
- To reduce the drop-out rate for middle school and high school students
- To broaden the world view of users of The Learning Center
- To assist users in learning how to learn
Uses of technology to support these goals:
- Using email and open access software for document creation (Open Office) in order to maintain communication with those outside of the immediate community
- Writer (Word equivalent)
- Calc and Base (Excel equivalents)
- Draw (Printshop equivalent)
- Gaining experience and practice to improve skills which will be of value in career searching and development
- Resume writing
- Interview tips
- Sample interview questions
- Wardrobe selection during an interview
- Using software which will assist in money management and budgeting
- Using software which will provide learning opportunities and homework assistance to classroom-age community members
