Organization’s Priorities for Implementation of Technology

The Lovejoy Temple Board wants first to make computers and Internet access available to its members and to the Brooklyn community and second to use technology to help draw young persons into the church. The Board would like to make six computer workstations available right now and then add more at some future point when the congregation has grown, the community’s needs have been more defined, and the church has determined the services it can make available and effective within the community.

Resources Available to Implement Technology at the Organization

Lovejoy Temple Church has the funds necessary to purchase materials and services to supplement the computers that GSLIS will provide. They also have members of the congregation that can teach other church members to use the computers, as well as provide some technical support to the lab.

Resources Organization Can Provide for Technology Implementation

The church can and will provide peripheral hardware, such as a printer and a NAT router for Internet access, if the church wants them for the lab. The church can and will install two additional circuits to provide power for the computers, outlets, and, if desired, Internet access.

Resources GSLIS Will Need to Provide

GSLIS will need to provide 10 computers (with keyboards, monitors, and mice), software for each computer, and cables to network the computers together, which the students will install at the site. The students working on the site will advise the organization on appropriate peripheral hardware and viable Internet connection options, as well as providing them with information on where to find tech support (e.g. the Digital East St. Louis Collaborative).
