Organization’s Priorities for Implementation of Technology
More than anything else, the Lessie Bates Center would like this computer lab to serve the educational needs of its users, particularly as students prepare for the ISATs and Iowa Tests. Internet research, especially for adults seeking employment, will also be a priority. Likewise, the Center expects heavy use from those preparing resumes with word processing applications. Since Lessie Bates also serves as a youth center, there is a desire for some recreational games (though violent games should not be included).
Resources Organization Can Provide for Technology Implementation
Lessie Bates is fairly well equipped already. The Center has a high-speed Internet connection; a wall-mounted switch; nearly all the cabling necessary; monitors; several updated computers; chairs and tables; and an adequate number of power strips. To increase the number of computers in the lab, Lessie Bates has offered to provide as many additional tables as it takes to complete the lab. The possibility of a new printer is being discussed.
Resources GSLIS Will Need to Provide
We will provide eight updated/rebuilt computers; cabling for two computers plus extra as a precaution; and a new mouse and keyboard for 14 workstations.
