Overview of Organization

Kids Club is an outreach center of the Rantoul Area Project which offers after-school educational and recreation neighbor-hood programs. Kids Club serves the children of the Maplewood Apartments complex where it is located. The programing there includes homework help, art projects, reading time, and computer time. The center serves between 25 and 30 children ranging in age between 5 to 16. Kids Club is open after school until 5:30pm during the school year and all day long when school is not in session.

History of Organization

Kids Club is part of the larger organization, Rantoul Area Project. There is another center located in a different apartment complex on the other side of town. Kids club started in 1998. There is one paid employee and 3 volunteers.

Summary of Organization’s Vision, Mission, and Goals

Kids Club’s mission is to provide a safe space for children to go after-school where they can receive educational and recreational programing. Kids Club recognizes the benefits of information and communication technologies and would like to develop and expand their current technological capabilities. In order to do this, Kids Club desires to have 6 refurbished computers, each equipped with basic office software and internet capabilities, that will meet the needs of the various students that use the Kids Club facility.
