Lessons Learned
Our GSLIS team learned a great deal about prioritization, patience, and communication, not to mention picking up a few handy tips for how to network computers.
Prioritization
With the December 01 trip looming large, the team decided that it was impractical to try to get the tenth computer, Ernie, working (particularly since we were even struggling to get it completely open as we had established we needed to get the hard drive out and it seemed to be a permanent fixture). Instead, we focused on complete installation and configuration of our nine functional computers.
Patience
The entire semester proved to be a lesson in patience as computers are not the most responsive of entities.
Communication
The group encountered some communication difficulties as is the case with many long-distance relationships and the coordination of different schedules. However, while face-to-face communication is optimal, the group did learn to be diplomatic with both email and phone communication.
