Semester Results

Tangible Results: Our group is very pleased with our small project.  We set up three operable computers, painted the bookshelf and picture frames, and attached headphones and pamphlets to each desk.
  • We compiled teachable directions on easy how to computer usage based on some of the Urbana Free Library’s material for volunteers.
  • We created computer packages that were tailored to the needs of our site coordinators and potential community patrons.
This Blog is a compilation of our trials and tribulations related to all aspects of the project. It is a record of our experiences and a way for groups that travel to East St. Louis after us to understand our experience. This potential communication with the class to come is a necessary part of the action research process. Every project should build on the work of people that came before. It was even difficult to understand what the Eslarp groups had done for the Park District in the past. Our Results are  an accessible blog/record of what is available at the Park District after our semester of work.
Results:
Through this project our entire group learned about the process of community outreach and action research. We have a clearer understanding of the organizational aspects that come with community partnerships. We have experienced a project from its conception to its conclusion. Understanding the work that goes into planning and then executing a community project is a clear result of this process and of this class.
