Goals and Expectations Communication

Hello Martha and Melanie!

I am writing on behalf of Martin’s group from the University of Illinois to thank you for being such kind hosts during our recent trip to East St. Louis.  Your beautiful smiles absolutely warmed our hearts!  We are looking very forward to working with both of you, and the Eagle’s Nest organization in the upcoming months.

Our group would like to share with you our goals and expectations with this project.  We would love to hear what you think, and would also like to hear any of your own visions that we have possibly left out.

Resources Available to Implement Technology at the Organization

Resources Organization Can Provide for Technology Implementation
Eagle’s nest will provide the room for the computer lab to be setup in. Eagle’s nest has two printers: one inkjet printer and one laser printer. Martha also mentioned a possible scanner she could donate.

Resources GSLIS Will Need to Provide
GSLIS needs to provide 18 computers with cables of customized lengths for each computer.
Plan of Execution

The Steps the Organization Needs to Accomplish Prior to Computer Delivery  Eagle’s Nest needs to finalize construction to provide a controlled environment without dust for the computers as well as provide the furniture for the computer lab. They should also have the wiring in the offices and leading into the computer lab completed.
The Steps the Project Team Needs to Accomplish Prior to Computer Delivery
We need to have all 18 computers ready to go with software(open office) and virus scan (clam win, ad-aware, comodo) installed. We need to make network cables for each computer.
We need to make tutorials for using open office, getting on the internet, setting up an email account, using email, and updating virus scan software.
We need to compile a list of links to resources online that may be helpful to the veterans such as job searching and the VA.

Potential Risks That Might Hinder Fully Accomplishing the Plan
The delivery of computers may be delayed beyond our time line if the building is not ready to receive computers.  In that case, our plan is to start setting up computers in the offices first.

Re: The Eagle’s Nest ~ Martin’s Group from the University of Illinois

I was certainly refreshing to  see so many enthusiastic and energized students!  I just know that we are going to have a rewarding year.

It looks as if your plan outlines the basics of everything that we discussed.  I will think about this a little more, and get back with you with any additions.

Thanks to all of you.  Thanks for the picture.  It helps to get names and faces together.
