Using OpenDNS
Go to www.opendns.com
Sign in (the link is at the top right hand corner of the page).
Username: hych
password: a1b2c3
Click on “Dashboard” at the very top of the page.
There are several actions to choose from.
Add a Site to the Ban List
Click on the orange tab labeled “Settings” located at the top of the page.
On the left hand column, click on “Block Individual Domains” (which is under “Filtering”).
Type in the address of the website (URL) into the box. For example, if you want to block users from using the site “www.badsite.com,” type this address into the box, click on “Apply to all my networks,” and click “Block this Domain.”
Once you do this, you’ll be asked if you want to block all subdomains. For example “badsite.com” and “www.badsite.com,” etc.
Click on “Apply to all my networks” and click “Block this Domain.”
To Un-Ban a Site
If there is a site that is being blocked and you would like to un-block it, click on “Whitelist” which is located on the left hand corner of the page (under “Filtering”).
Type in the address of the site that you would like to unblock; for example, “www.goodsite.com”.
Click on “Apply to all Networks” and “Add to Whitelist.”
Stats
If you click on “Stats,” which is located on the first orange tab at the top of the page, you can see the kinds of activity that the computers have been getting. You can also see the sites that the patrons have been going to.
