August's Recipes of the Month


The fresh peaches this time of year are wonderful. Run out to the store and grab a few: then stir up one of these treats...

Texas Peach Cobbler (from Marilyn S.)


Melt 1 stick butter and pour into a 9 X 13 pan.

Mix 1 ½ C. flour, 1 ½ C. sugar, 1 T. Baking Powder, and 1 ½ C milk together in a bowl and pour over butter in pan. Layer 2 quarts fresh sliced peaches over the top and sprinkle with a mixture of ¼ C. sugar and 2 t. cinnamon. Bake 30-35 minutes at 350.




Fresh Peach Lush


FIRST LAYER: 1 C. chopped pecans, 1 C. flour, ½ C butter melted. Mix and spread in a 9 X 13 pan. Bake 15 minutes at 350. Cool completely.

SECOND LAYER: 8 oz. Cream Cheese, softened, 8 oz. Cool Whip, 1 C. powdered sugar, 1 t. vanilla, 1 t. cinnamon. Mix and spread over crust.

THIRD LAYER: 3 C. sliced peaches, 2 ½ T. cornstarch, 1 t. almond flavoring

Combine peaches, cornstarch and sugar. Cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and add flavoring. Cool completely and spread over second layer. Top dessert with 8 oz. Cool Whip.




Peachy Delight


1 pkg. yellow cake mix

¾ C. melted butter

1 pound peaches, sliced and sweetened

2 C. sour cream

¼ C. sugar

3 egg yolks

Cinnamon to taste

Combine cake mix and butter in a bowl and mix well. Spread in bottom of lightly greased 9 X 13 pan. Layer peaches over the top. Blend sour cream, sugar and egg yolks in a bowl. Spoon over peaches. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake 30-35 minutes at 350 or until set.




Peaches and Cream Pizza


Separate 1 tube refrigerated crescent roll dough into 8 triangles and press onto a greased 12” pizza pan. Seal seams and bake 8-10 minutes at 375. Cool on a wire rack. Beat 8 oz. softened cream cheese, ½ C. sugar, ½ t. almond extract until smooth and spread over crust. Top with 1 can peach pie filling (or fresh peaches). Combine ½ C flour and ¼ C. brown sugar. Cut in 3 T. cold butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over peaches. Top with ½ C. sliced almonds. Bake 20-25 minutes at 375. Cool. Refrigerate leftovers.
