Star Quilt Assembly



Quilt approximately 61” x 88”.


Assemble setting squares. Cut 12 [6 ½ “] squares from your background fabric. Make 6 alternate blocks using your small star blocks and your plain background squares.


Setting pieces for the quilt top. These pieces are cut slightly larger. After you assemble the top, you will need to trim up the edges.


Corner triangles: Cut 2 [9 ½ “] squares. Cut these squares in half on the diagonal for a total of 4 triangles.


Side, top and bottom triangles cut 4 [10 3/8”] squares. Cut these squares into quarters for a total of 20 triangles. Sew two of these triangles to each side of the star blocks that you have left. You will have 10 of these units.

Assemble the top. Square up after sewing all the rows together.

Inner Border cut 8 [2 ½“ by the width of the fabric] strips. Sew these strips together in pairs. Sew borders to the quilt.

Outer Border: use your [4 ½“ x 8 ½“] rectangles from an assortment of fabrics used in the quilt. Cut 4 [4 ½ “] squares for the corners of the border. Sew approximately 7 rectangles together for top and bottom borders for the side borders sew approximately 9 together. You can add or subtract pieces as needed or use partial pieces.
