Supporting Organizations
Supporting organizations assist with various aspects of the program, donating their time and services to assist with administrative, legal, and leadership tasks.
Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation
is a private, nonprofit organization that provides free legal services and representation to low-income individuals and groups in certain types of civil cases. Land of Lincoln provides its services in 65 counties in Central and Southern Illinois. In general, Land of Lincoln may only represent clients whose income falls at or below 125% of the poverty level as established by the federal government.
Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance currently attends the monthly meetings of the Community Reinvestment Group of Champaign County. Several local banks have expressed their willingness to work with our program, and Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance will continue to strengthen this community tie. Land of Lincoln also leads the Champaign County Predatory Lending Task Force.
The College of Law Clinic at the University of Illinois School of Law
houses law students and professors who work on transactional and litigation matters for low-income individuals and nonprofit agencies. The clinic will be assisting the Partnership Accounts for Individual Development program by helping us obtain 501 (c) (3) status. The clinic also assisted with the preparation of bylaws for the Partnership and rules and procedures for the nonprofit organization.
