				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A discrete community intranet is a computer network created by a local community that is disconnected from the Internet at large. Modern technology allows these small networks to be created cheaply and with low power requirements. These networks can be used to share information when the Internet at large is unavailable or undesirable.</p>
<p>In order to help potential users of these community intranets this page intends to provide resources about the advantages and disadvantages of such a network. In addition some technical advice about the hardware and software makeup of a community intranet is provided.</p>
