Intercambio
invites you to make a difference
 |
Intercambio
has featured a construction project on every trip since our first
venture in 1983. Each construction project is in response to a local
need, identified by local leaders, and planned as a partnership effort. |
 |
| |
Over
the years, Intercambio has helped build schools, medical clinics,
a residential institute for Downes syndrom children, a nursing home,
community buildings, churches, pre-schools, water systems, and a
workshop for a local women's weaving cooperative. Intercambio uses
indigenous building techniques and materials. We also have a local
Mayan site foreman who is skilled in working with both volunteer
groups and local villagers.

All
this helps insure that when we work side-by-side with our local hosts,
they're fully vested as partners in the process and are committed
to seeing the project through to completion.

Don't
worry if you don't have any previous experience in this sort of
work...there's plenty to be done and you can rest assured that there
will definitely be a place for you to "fit in" and contribute.
Of course, if you do have professional experience in construction
or related work, that's great too... and we'll be sure to put your
skills to good use as well.
Most
importantly, come prepared to work hard, get some good exercize,
meet some great folks, and have a rewarding time helping others
in the process.
