In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and 2 cups sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and 1 teaspoon cardamom; add to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk. In a small bowl, combine the remaining sugar and cardamom; dip rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into sugar mixture. Place on greased baking sheets. Bake at 375° for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks. Makes about 6 dozen. |
