DIRT |

In food processor or blender, process cookies in batches until they resemble fine crumbs (or dirt). Set aside. In large bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until creamy. In a second bowl, combine pudding mix and milk. Beat until mixture begins to thicken, about a minute or two. Combine pudding and cream cheese mixtures, mixing well. Fold in whipped topping. Lightly butter inside of 8¼-inch high pottery or clay flowerpot that is 8½ inches in diameter. Place plastic lid in bottom of pot to cover hole. Line entire pot (includ-ing bottom) with plastic wrap to within 1½ inches of top of pot. Place about a cup of cookie crumbs (dirt) in bottom of pot. Top with about 2½ cups of pudding mixture. Continue layering cookie crumbs and pudding mixture, ending with cookie crumbs. Cover and refrigerate two hours or overnight. Just before serving, insert a bouquet of silk flowers in the center of the pot. Top dirt with assorted colors of gummy worms, if desired, and serve with a gardening trowel. Cover and refrigerate any that is left. Makes 12 to 16 servings. Annette Schoenberg |
