SPICED SESAME BARS
  • ½ c sifted flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp soda
  • ¼ tsp allspice
  • ¼ tsp mace

  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 egg
  • ¾ c brown sugar
  • 3 tb butter, melted
  • ¼ c toasted sesame seeds

Toast sesame seeds in pan or oven, stirring occasionally. Sift together flour, salt, soda, and spices. Set aside. Beat egg; gradually add sugar and mix well. Stir in butter; sift in dry ingredients.

Spread half the sesame seeds over bottom of greased 8"x8"x2" pan. Pour in batter. Top with remaining seeds. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes. Cool. Cut into 32 bars.
