WebmailPrairienet offers Webmail program called Squirrelmail. Webmail lets you check your Prairienet email from anywhere in the world that you have access to a Web browser. Access to Webmail is convenient from a quick link on the Prairienet homepage. You can use Webmail in combination with a POP or IMAP mail program. Webmail will display any messages that are present on the Prairienet Web server at the time you log in. Some people use their Webmail to do quick checks of new mail while at work or while travelling. Others use Webmail for all their email. To log in to Webmail, log in with your usual username and password. You will find Squirrelmail fairly self-explanatory. Here are some tips and tricks. Webmail and Your QuotaIn the top left-hand corner of your screen, you will see a bar displaying your current usage. Most Prairienet accounts have a mail quota of 20MB.If you forget to empty your Webmail folders regularly, you may end up going over your disk space quota. When you are over quota, there is no room for incoming messages and your e-mail will bounce. To empty a folder: click on the appropriate folder and then click the "toggle all" button. All displayed messages should then have checkmarks placed in their boxes. Click "delete" and the messages will be permanently deleted. Cookies must be enabledYour Web browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla or other) must have cookies enabled in order for Squirrelmail to work. Please check your Web browser's Help for information on cookie settings.Default for DeletionsBy default, your deleted messages not stored in Squirrelmail's INBOX.Trash folder (which functions like the Windows Recycle bin) Messages you delete are immediately and permanently deleted. If you prefer the safety net of moving deleted messages to the trash folder, go to Options, Folder Preferences, Special Folder Options. Be sure to delete mail in the trash folder periodically, since it counts towards your mail quota.Display Message SizeGo to Options, Index Order and select Size from the dropdown box and click on Add. You can also choose the order in which the columns are displayed.Save Your WorkIf you are working on a long message or are called away while working on one, you will want to Save Draft regularly. You can then easily resume your message. This will protect your work in case you exceed the mail server's timeout. (A timeout is needed in order to disconnect when people don't remember to log out or exit when they've finished with their email.)Display all MessagesIn order to make it easier to delete multiple messages, you may want to increase the number of message displayed on a single page here. Go to Options, Display Preferences, Mailbox Display Options, Number of Messages to Index. If you set this to a very high number, like 999, all messages will display. You can use Toggle All to mark all messages in one operation. On the same page, under General Display Options, Custom Stylesheet, selecting sans-08 will use a smaller font and may make it easier to get an overview of your folder contents.
