Proceeds from the sale of new and gently used items at our ReStore cover all of our administrative costs. As a result, all monies donated to home building go directly to home building. The ReStore is open Tuesdays - Saturdays from 10a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sundays 1 - 5 p.m. We are located at 119 E University, just east of Dallas & Company in downtown Champaign. See new sofas, chairs, doors, windows and doo-dads here.

Donate: Funds

Habitat homes cost $65,000—$95,000 to build depending on the land under development. Our affiliate raises $64,500 for each home build and covers any expense in excess. Each home has a 20-year, zero interest mortgage, also at $64,500. Principal payments ($75—$250 per home owner each month depending on the age of the home) help to defray the cost of future home builds. Donor investment in the homes is protected from “flipping” with a 10-year profit-sharing clause. See Google map of our homes here. See our Flickr photostream here.

Please download and complete our donations pdf document (click here) and send your contribution to Habitat today.

By Phone

Thanks to our friends at Champaign Telephone, you may make a donation by phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Please call (217) 531-3535 with your credit card number.

Donate: Home Build Materials

If you are interested in donating new materials for a home build (e.f. siding, shingles, carpet) or professional services (e.g. plumbing, grading, roofing), please contact Construction Manager Paul Zindars at 217-359-0507 x112 or building@cuhabitat.org. See a video on YouTube here.

Donate: ReStore Materials

The ReStore accepts donations of furniture, household goods, electronics, appliances, and building materials in re-sellable condition.  We reserve the right to refuse any materials that we are unable to re-sell, and all materials must be inspected by a staff member. Materials may be dropped off any time during store hours at 119 E. University Ave, Champaign.  Our receiving area is located at the south end of the store off the alley.  Please pull up to the garage door next to the loading dock at the southeast corner of the building and find a staff member to assist you.  There is absolutely no dumping of materials at the store!

Donate: Schedule a Pick-Up

If you are unable to drop off your donations, please call us to schedule a pick-up. We generally do pick-ups during store hours Tuesday through Sunday.  Please contact us at 217-355-6460 x120 or ReStore@cuhabitat.org for more information or to schedule a pick up.

We charge a $5 fee for donation pick-ups in Champaign-Urbana, which helps us cover the costs associated with providing this service.  Outside C-U we will pick up items in a 15 mile radius, which is $10.  We prefer not to pick up items on the second floor or in a basement, but will do so for $5 per item additional fee.  There is an additional $15 charge to pick up sleeper sofas or double recliners.

Note:  we reserve the right to only take items that will be sellable in our store.  Remember, if we cannot sell your items, we have to pay to have them hauled away, defeating our purpose.  We may ask you to have any appliances or electronics hooked up when we get there so that we can be sure they work.

Volunteer: ReStore

The ReStore is a fun, rewarding, and exciting place to volunteer! If you'd like to spend a few hours a week helping out in a relaxed and welcoming environment, then contact Patti Darr (e-mail, 217-355-6460 x116).  There are a few principal types of volunteers needed at the ReStore: store clerk, cashier, displays, pick up and delivery drivers. We ask for a commitment of at least 1 shift per week for 4 months at the ReStore.

See our Flickr photostream here.
