Prairie Grove Volunteers and Grand Prairie Friends Activity Calendar Volunteer Stewardship Activities September 21, 2008, 2-6pm Collection of seeds from native prairie plants is underway, and Grand Prairie Friends invites you to assist with this endeavor. Seeds will be used to expand prairie at Loda Cemetery Prairie Nature Preserve and for the spring plant sale. Where: Meet at Anita Purves Nature Center (1505 N Broadway, Urbana) to trek out to seed collecting sites What to bring: drinking water, gloves, hand clippers, clothes appropriate to wear in thick prairie vegetation Who to contact with questions: Jamie Ellis, gpf@prairienet.org Watch for news on other seed collecting opportunities in September and October. Help remove invasive species, improve trails, collect seed, and plant native species. Tools and refreshments will be provided. Directions to Buffalo Trace Prairie: From I-74, take Route 47 North away from Mahomet. At first asphalt road to the left, turn left (2100 N) and turn left again at the next intersection (300E). Drive south to the parking lot on the left across from the cell-phone tower. Walk out on the bike path to the prairie between the 0.2 and 0.3 Mile mark on the bike path.
