COLDAI1.jpg (397897 bytes) A Cold Air Funnel photographed by EMA Volunteer Jim Page.   Jim photographed this over Urbana, Illinois.  Cold Air Funnels are typically not dangerous.  They can touch down, but usually do very little damage.
lightning1.jpg (123020 bytes) Lightning photographed by EMA Volunteer Charlie Heflin.   Charlie photographed these lightning bolts while performing storm spotter duties during an activation for a tornado watch.  Lightning kills more people each year than any other weather phenomenon - including tornadoes.
lightning2.jpg (120431 bytes) This is an interesting photograph - you can see multiple lightning strokes which appear to be several miles apart.

lightning3.jpg (109717 bytes)

A distant bolt.

lightning4.jpg (112210 bytes) When storm spotting at night, flashes of lightning are often the only way to spot tornados.
