When it is assessed that protective custody is the only option to insure safety, the CPSW works collaboratively with the parents to identify and document in the case file potential members for the Child and Family Team. An effort should be made to identify individuals who are committed to supporting the family as they move toward their permanency goal. The Child and Family Team identifies and develops methods to resolve issues causing child maltreatment and ensures the child's health, safety and well-being.
The team uses the strength of the family members to achieve the best possible outcome based on the best interest of the child. Members of the Child and Family Team also help parents explore all permanency options including remaining at home, permanence with extended family members, agreements to surrender parental rights, reunification, etc.
