4.14 The Child Protection Manager's Responsibilities:
- Child Protection Manager's responsibilities as it relates to investigations include, but are not limited to the following:
- Be available to consult or arrange for consultation with the CPSW if the supervisor is unavailable.
- Ensure the equitable distribution of cases.
- Overall management of 24-hour compliance and 60 day-completion.
- Unqualify reports that do not contain the required elements.
- Approve undetermined reports
- Review all reports involving wards.
- Review and approve waivers required at the manager's level.
- Final arbiter of case disagreements between the CPSW and follow-up.
- Review investigations that meet case opening criteria but the supervisor has waived the opening.
- Review certain types of investigations prior to submittal to SCR (e.g., death reports; facilities; media, etc)
- Provide documented clinical supervision and support to assigned Public Service Administrators (PSA).
- Resolve any differences between the supervisor and the CPSW.
- Ensure supervisory staff adheres to the contents and frequency of supervisory conferences.
- Review PSA supervisory files on a monthly basis.
- Review cases referred to juvenile court that do not pass screening with the supervisor. Case specific action plans are to be developed.
- Review and maintain statistical data for assigned teams.
- Provide documented, ongoing evaluation and assessment of the supervisor's (PSA) abilities and performance. Evaluations or performance appraisals are to be completed two months prior to the due date and submitted to the manager for authorization and signature.
