PLACEMENT: Volunteers are so integral to the Center for Women in Transition that fostering a strong volunteer program is a top priority to our agency. In order to accomplish this goal, CWT follows a process whereby volunteers are interviewed, oriented, placed, trained and then recognized for their efforts.
The volunteer coordinator conducts all interviews after an application has been submitted. This is an excellent chance for applicants to discuss their experience, interests and specialties. It is also a great time for volunteer candidates to voice their concerns or talk about their expectations. After the interview, volunteers are oriented in one of our open sessions, and then they are placed in a position that works best with their particular skill set. Once the position has been selected, volunteers are ready to undergo some simple training. The amount of training varies with each position. Finally, we want to recognize the invaluable contributions of our volunteers as often as we can. We are grateful to have so many dedicated people lending a hand, and we do our best to always acknowledge those who are donating their time.
