Welcome back to a new school year! Champaign
PTA Council meets
monthly and is made up of the representatives, presidents, and principals of
each of the 16 PTA school buildings and the executive committee of Council
officers. Please have your school represented at each meeting. Other
interested parents and community members are always welcome at our meetings.
The Council makes a statement to the School Board at its regular monthly
meeting.
September Program:
- Mark Shelden, Champaign County Clerk, will speak about the
election process and the need for election judges.
- Kathleen Harness, enrichment teacher at Dr. Howard School, will
do a short presentation about the educational software Squeak
and the upcoming Squeakfest to be held Sept. 11 at
Central High School.

Also, we will be having a short
School of Information session after
the business meeting. Please encourage all of your PTA officers to attend.
All of the officers and reps will divide into groups to discuss their
duties, ask questions, and exchange ideas.
Informational Items:
PTA Council Dues - Dues are $50 per PTA unit. Make checks
payable to Champaign PTA Council. Please remind your treasurer to mail the
dues to Council treasurer: Tim Clark, 1206 W. Park St., Champaign, IL 61821,
or have your PTA president or rep bring it to the next Council meeting.
Council Handbook - Most PTAs have given
me the names, addresses, phone nos.and emails of their new officers and
their Reflections, Legislation, Family Involvement, and newsletter
chairpersons. If you have not, please bring those names to the meeting, or
you can email them to me. I will soon be sending out the information I have
for your school to your council rep or president to review to see if it is
correct. Also be sure you have registered your PTA and sent your officer
information into the state PTA office.
