      Events and Activities Sponsored by the Cosmopolitan Club
      The Cosmopolitan sponsors several types of events and activities, some regular and some occasional, throughout the year.

      International Dinners

      International dinners are an opportunity to sample foods from diverse cultures and socialize with other international and American students. Dinners are generally held every second Sunday at the Cosmopolitan Club house (307 E. John St., Champaign). Dinners begin at 6:00 p.m. and require reservations. The cost for members is $4.00 and for non-members is $6.00. Club members only may make dinner reservations on the Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon preceding the dinner: call the Club Executive Director at 367-3079. Others may make reservations on the Friday preceding the dinner from 1:30-7:00 pm at the same phone number. Dinners are typically followed by a program highlighting the culture featured for the evening. If you have any suggestions for dinners, or if you'd like to volunteer to cook a dinner, please call the Club Executive Director at 367-3079.

      International Coffee Hours

      International coffee hours are informal gatherings held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. every Thursday evening at the Cosmopolitan Club house (307 E. John St., Champaign). At these events, coffee, tea, and homemade ethnic desserts are served. International and American students, club members and non- members, are all welcome. Coffee Hours are good opportunities to meet people from around the world and learn about other cultures. See the current Cosmopolitan Club calendar for a list of the international coffee hours scheduled for the current semester. If you have any suggestions for coffee hours, or if you'd like to volunteer to sponsor a coffee hour, please call the Club Executive Director at 367- 3079.

      Special Events and Activities

      Besides the regular international dinners and coffee hours described above, the Cosmopolitan Club sponsors other occasional events and activities. These may include informational lectures; English conversation groups; parties; excursions to theater performances, local festivals, and other cultural events; and excursions to historic sites, museums, and other cultural places. These events offer possibilities for Americans and those from other countries to share opinions and experiences. Approximately half of dozen of these events are offered each semester.
