2008 Champaign County Fair Queen Pageant
Official Rules and Regulations

  1. A contestant must be a resident of Champaign County at least one year prior to pageant.
  2. A contestant must be 16 years of age by July 1, 2008 and not have reached her 22nd birthday by January 20, 2009. Please attach proof of age to the application.
  3. Former County Fair Queens are not eligible to participate.
  4. Contestant must be single, never have been married or had a marriage annulled; contestant can never have been pregnant.
  5. Contestant must be an U.S. citizen and never have been charged or convicted of a felony offense.
  6. Entrant agrees that the time, manner and method of conducting and judging the contest shall be the sole discretion of the pageant officials and that the decision of the judges shall be final.
  7. If chosen Miss Champaign County 2008, entrant agrees to represent Champaign County and compete for the title of Miss Illinois County Fair 2009. This contest will be held in January, 2009 (usually Martin Luther King’s Birthday weekend) in Springfield, Illinois. Candidate will be accompanied at all times by a chaperone. This is a four-day event (Thursday - Sunday). If selected State Queen - will be required to stay thru Monday.
  8. Miss Champaign County Fair Queen 2008 must be available during the week of the 2008 Champaign County Fair (July 18-26) for various activities, and agrees to participate in functions becoming of a Queen which may arise during the year. Activities connected with the Champaign County Fair should take precedence over any and all other personal appearances. She agrees not to enter any other beauty pageants except the Illinois County Fair Pageant prior to January 2009. The Queen must be accompanied by a chaperone at all timed during the week of the fair and at any personal appearances when she is wearing her crown. (When making public appearances, no jeans or slacks are permitted.) This chaperone should be preferably a parent, pageant director, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or an adult over the age of 21.
  9. The Queen will attend the Illinois State Fair, County Fair Day, August 8, 2008. Leave for Springfield around 8 AM.
  10. In case of marriage, pregnancy, living with a man, or any reason the Queen is unable to fulfill her obligations as the reigning Queen, or any reason which the pageant director deems unacceptable of a Queen, the queen will relinquish the title of Miss Champaign County Fair IMMEDIATELY, and all privileges connected with the said title, together with ALL prizes awarded to her, and a runner-up shall be awarded all prizes as if she were chosen queen on pageant night - her crown, trophy, banner, scholarship, and every gift not inscribed with her name. She shall be succeeded by the next eligible contestant.
  11. Entrant agrees to abide by all the rules of the County and State contests now in effect or as hereafter announced.
  12. Entrant must be present at the following MANDATORY MEETINGS: (1) Orientation workshop on June 9, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Thomasboro Community Bldg. (2) Individual appointments, must attend 2 out of the three dates given out at orientation - this is for interview and speech practice, approve clothes you are planning to wear for the pageant, all clothing will be checked and approved before the pageant (3) Thurs. July 10th 6 p.m. rehearsal at the Rantoul High School Cafetorium with a pizza party afterwards, (4) Full dress rehearsal on July 11th 6 p.m. at the Rantoul High School Cafetorium, (7)Pageant Day is Saturday July 12, 2008 - Interview will begin at 10 a.m. and pageant will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Rantoul High School Cafetorium.
  13. Illegal drugs, alcohol and smoking will definitely not be tolerated.
  14. The Queen is Champaign County Fair’s Ambassador for the year. We want the Queen to get as much exposure as possible - Visit Schools, Local Civic Groups, Open Houses, Parades, Special Speaking Engagements - This is very much an HONOR and YOU MUST BE A ROLE MODEL - So we expect the Very, Very Best of our Queen.
