Boy Scout Troop 104
Urbana, Illinois
Prairiefire District
Sponsored by St.
Matthew Lutheran Church since 1961
Troop 104 meets every Tuesday night from 7:00 to 8:30 in the Fellowship
Hall of St. Matthew Lutheran Church at 2200 S. Philo Rd. in Urbana. Boy
Scouts is open to any boy who is 11 years old or who has completed 5th
grade, and who has not reached his 18th birthday.
Troop 104 uses a listserv hosted by Prairienet to communicate to its members. If you'd like to receive troop mailings, you can sign up here. This is a "closed list," generally only available to troop members and friends, but we'll listen to requests for exceptions.
We have at least one outdoor event every month (except December, which
is ususally too busy already). Some of our activities have included:
- Backpacking in the general area of Breckenridge, CO.
- Backpacking in Southern Illinois and Wisconsin
- 50-mile canoe trips down the Middlefork and Vermillion Rivers in
East Central Illinois
- Treks to Philmont
Scout Ranch in 1992, 1994, 1997, 1999 and 2001.
- Expeditions to the BSA's Sea
Base in the Florida Keys in 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2006.
- A one-week backpacking trip to the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area in Colorado in 2000.
(With lots of help from Troop 105 in Granby, CO.)
- Annual "Lake Base" weeks on the Lake Superior shore in the Upper Penninsula of
Michigan.

- Turkey Run, Shakamak and McCormack's Creek State Parks in Indiana
