| ADAPTER RINGS | ||||||
|
The Kodak lens attachment system used series filters and supplementary objectives which were made in six sizes--Series 4 though Series 9-- and were either unrimmed glass or glass with a protective, but not threaded ring. Filters were attached to the lens by an adapter ring that either clamped on the outside perimeter of the lens or a screwin adapter that engaged threads on the inside perimeter of the front lens element. This allowed the user with multiple cameras to reduce the total investment in lens attachments, since individual filters could often be used on multiple cameras. The specifications below are incomplete because I could find no single Kodak publication with all information for every adapter ring or camera. Each entry below was presumably manufactured by Kodak at some point between about 1945 and 1955. In general screwin adapters were only numbered, though some later ones included measurements stamped in the metal, while slipon adapter were labelled with nominal diameter measurements in inches, later in both inches and mm. |
