The following still camera Ektars were documented in the Kodak Professional Handbook, 1952. This volume duplicated pages in Kodak Data Book: Lenses Shutters and Portra Lenses, Fourth Edition, 1952, for optics for small professional cameras, plus the Professional Handbook had exclusive pages for Commercial and Wide Field Ektars. This was apparently the only edition of the Kodak Professional Handbook to have been published, since a Kodak "Handbook News #2" in 1959 still lists the 1952 first edition as the current edition.

ø These lenses were not listed in the data section of the Kodak Professional Handbook, but rather in a table--"CURRENT AND RECNT KODAK LENSES for PRESS, VIEW, and SIMILAR CAMERAS" specifing adapter ring sizes and mounting flange part numbers. Further, in another table in the section, "ATTACHING LENSES TO VIEW CAMERAS," only the 7 1/2 inch Ektar is mentioned and then grouped with other lenses using the Supermatic No 2, whereas in the former table, the shutter mounted version shares a flange with the f/4.5 12 inch Ektar.
+ In the table showing adapter ring sizes, this lens is shown as requiring a Ser VIII 54mm adapter, yet the table entries for the    8 1/2 inch Ektar and the 8 1/2 Commercial Ektar list Ser VII 44.5mm adapters. The 7 1/2 inch Ektar also uses the same    flange as the 12 inch Commercial Ektar, suggesting that the 7 1/2 inch lens was a big piece of glass. This is inconsistant with    the idea noted in the previous footnote that this lens could have been mounted in a Supermatic #2. Perhaps there were two    different 7 1/2 inch Ektars?

Since this is such an excellent lens, it is natural to want to remount the stray example for use with another camera. Unfortunately, the linkages for shutter cocking and release don't lend themselves easily to this. To have this done by a qualified photo machinist would be likely to exceed the cost of a more modern lens of this length. See extended discussion on Medalist page.

One note on the 105mm f3.7 Ektar... It is easily confused with the 107mm f3.7 Kodak Anastigmat which I believe
was prewar, and I think it was a 4 element lens rather than a 5 element Heliar copy. Kodak put out a booklet
called, I believe, Kodak lenses & shutters or something like that. Showed the formulas (formulae?) for most of
the Ektars.
