Welcome to Prairienet, a site for community connections through technology tools! This site is provided through the Center for Digital Inclusion as one means for faculty, staff and students at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science and other units at the University of Illinois to document community engagement with long-term and new community partners. We hope this website becomes a valuable resource about information technology and community development.

The Engagement Projects tab will link you to information about a partial but growing list of community-university engagement projects throughout Illinois, nationally, and Internationally.

The Special Topics tab will link you to reports reviewing ways information and communication technologies can and are being used to support community development efforts.

The Community Technology Forum is a blog where we invite you to let us know your experiences with technology in community!

Prairienet no longer hosts community web pages and news/discussion forums. However, the CU Wiki is a wonderful new collaborative, community-driven effort to share local knowledge about Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. And CU-CitizenAccess is a community online news and information project offering the opportunity for members of the community – including citizens, journalists, and university students – to share news and information, raise and discuss important issues, and suggest solutions.

Please contact Martin Wolske mwolske (at) illinois (dot) edu with questions about Prairienet.
